Time for tea and raise cash for Bristol Children's Hospital

Schools and businesses across Bristol have been putting the kettle on to raise money for the children's hospital.

Over the past two weeks six organisations held a traditional tea party to raise money for the Wallace and Gromit Children's Foundation, which donates money to the hospital.

More than 100,000 people across the UK took part in the tea parties which coincided with Wallace and Gromit's 20th anniversary.

Clifton College held its grand tea party yesterday. Children, parents and staff from the prep and pre-prep school tucked into cakes made by the pupils in their after-school cookery club.

The dynamic duo's latest flick, A Matter of Loaf and Death, was shown on a big screen in the school's hall. Pupils also wore non-uniform clothing on the day.

Family business Brinsea Products in Winscombe, who make egg incubators, also held its tea party yesterday.

Juliette Woodland, 45, office manager, said: "Even if we make just £20 it will be good. If every company did that it would be a lot."

SACO in Clifton, which handles corporate apartments, tucked into cheesecake, flapjacks and scones throughout the day yesterday.

Bridget Kelly, 38, office manager, said: "We wanted to support Wallace and Gromit because they're from Bristol and we also love cake."

Broadway Infants School, Yate, held their party last Friday. It also held a raffle with Wallace and Gromit inspired gifts. One parent, a professional cake maker, gave a cake with Wallace's face on and another with Gromit's, which raised £170. Jo Joans, 38, chairman of the school's friends committee, said: "It's a campaign close to a few of the parents' hearts."
